Corporate Headshots Sydney - Circular Quay

As a professional photographer who has been photographing people for over 12 years, I love to inspire my clients to push the boundaries of what a professional corporate portrait or headshot can be. Yes I do photograph professionals in my Sydney studio in Rozelle with various backgrounds and studio lighting. But what I love the most is photographing corporate portraits on location and often outside. These days your business profile portrait for LinkedIn and social media doesn't just have to be a really close shot of just your head. I can photograph you in a various photo locations and styles to create a portfolio of images with different looks and styles. The reason for this is to give you a creative mix of images which you can uses for different professional purposes.

Another very important difference between Mackintosh Photography and other photography studios is that your portrait absolutely has to look like who you really are! Not an over photoshopped and retouched plastic version of yourself. People need to see the real you to build trust in your personal image and company branding and ethos. Having said that I do retouch my clients' business portraits, however naturally and subtly. But most importantly I don't change who you are.

The images below are from a photography portrait shoot from last week. The client was Laurel Grey from Happily Organised. Laurel was the perfect client; we happily collaborated together on the looks and styles of portraits she required. Then it was up to me to photographically create images to match the looks and purposes of the images she needed.

Laural even gave the studio a testimonial our FaceBook Page. Justin gives personal and professional service - I needed some new corporate shots and he innately knew the right spot at Circular Quay. We got great shots in under 40 minutes - easy and painless! Thank you!

Romantic Couple Portraits - Balmain Sydney

Being in love is wonderful! And what's just as wonderful is enjoying a fun and romantic couple portrait photography shoot. Don't wait till the wedding day to have some natural and even contemporary portraits taken of the two of you. Express your love now - why wait?

Autumn and winter are beautiful times in Sydney to have a family or couple portraits session. I have many favourite spots around Sydney Harbour to photograph loving couples like Caroline and Mario. They looked so beautiful together and they were so cool to shoot. They were happy for me to go a bit whacky with angles and playing with the setting sun. I really enjoyed photographing these guys.

Like most people the start of a portrait shoot can be a little intimidating and you may feel a bit self conscious. Remember that's to be expected. Because I love people and lets face it I'm a social person! i have a knack of making my couples and families feel relaxed quite quickly. Every one of my clients are amazed at how much fun a professional portrait shoot can be.

Wouldn't it be nice to have your loved ones photographed this winter?

Adriano Zumbo Black & White Portrait - The Rocks Sydney

Fun and creative portraits. Here's another one of my favourites from my Personal Archive.

Following on from my successful entry in Sydney Morning Herald "Shoot The Chef" portrait competition in 2008. I was thrilled with opportunity to captured a portrait of Adriano Zumbo. I wanted to create something dark and mysterious, reminiscent of Hollywood's classical film noir period, which is generally regarded as extending from the early 1940s to the late 1950s.

So off i went location scouting. I knew the photograph needed to be captured at night to achieve the right moody look i was after. But i still needed some ambient lighting as well. So with a combination of street lighting and studio flash i was able to create a stunning, moody and even romantic black and white image. Sydney's Rocks area is a wonderful place for timeless portrait photography and classic wedding photos.

And yes I was again a finalist in the Shoot The Chef photography competition in 2009.

Beautiful Baby Photo shoot

One of the best and most rewarding things I love about been a photographer, is the ongoing relationships I have with my families. I photographed Amanda and Matt ‘s lovely Sydney harbour wedding at Jones Bay Wharf. And now they're the proud parents of baby Felix. I must have done great at their wedding. For them to want me back!! If you look carefully you can see one of their black and white wedding photographs in background.

For newborn or baby photos I usually prefer to do the photography shoot in the convenience of your home. In this case their apartment in Pyrmont. The reason I prefer home study portrait shoots, is because babies can be unpredictable with their sleep patterns and feeds. So its more comfortable for mum and baby to be at home.  I take my time with these shoots and if necessary mum can feed the child if they are unsettled. While this is happening I can photograph the other family members, like the babies brother or sisters.

Portrait of an Australian Governor General

Today, His Excellency General the Honourable Sir Peter Cosgrove AK MC (Retd). Was sworn in as the nation's 26th Governor-General. Congratulations.

Today's events reminds me of the opportunity I had to photograph the former Governor General Dame Quentin Bryce at the Ethnic Business Awards. These were held at the Four Seasons Hotel in Sydney in 2009.

I really love this black & white candid portrait. I love it because it's such a wonderfully natural and spontaneous photograph of Quentin.

Editorial Style Corporate Portraits - Walsh Bay

Pier 8/9 Walsh Bay Sydney was the place for a fun corporate shoot last week at Atomic. Cool name too. They're a hip digital marketing agency with a mission to deliver outstanding digital strategy. I love shooting in creative spaces and Atomic had an awesome space to photograph and design from.

They recently merged with a couple of other advertising/strategy firms in Sydney and needed new branding and business portraits of the new team members and key staff. Some companies don't get the group photos cause they can be a challenge, but I got some great shots of everyone together.

There's always a bit of extra pressure shooting for an advertising agency. Their photographic brief was simple…. haha! Make the portraits creative and relaxed, with blurry backgrounds etc. Easier said than done sometimes but we achieved it in the allocated time we had. I'm a big fan of Black & White photography and portraits. Consider possibly having a mix of black & white images for your next photography shoot.

Often for corporate shoots like this I’ll bring along an experienced photographic assistant as they help make the day run smoothly, ultimately it means the client is happier. And so am I.

Enjoy the photos.
